Understanding Models of Care

This one day programme aims to provide participants with an overview of the NTA publication "Models of Care" and the four-tier framework of services. It also aims to provide an understanding of the principles of risk assessment and to explore screening and assessment systems.

Who Should Attend

This programme is aimed at anyone who wishes to understand more about the NTA publication 'Models of Care and Assessment' for example drug agency workers or any worker - statutory, non-statutory or voluntary - working with drug users who may need to be referred for help and/or treatment. It does not require any previous knowledge on the part of the participant. We can include other aims and objectives in this day if your target group require it. Additionally, if you would like us to include your particular local assessment format within this day then please contact us and let us know.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify and understand the main objectives of the NTA's publication 'Models of Care and Assessment' and the four tier framework
  • Identify and understand the epidemiology of drug use and the needs of drug users in the UK
  • Identify and understand the principles of risk assessment and explore screening and assessment systems
  • Identify and understand integrated care pathways and care co ordination and its advantages
