This one day course is designed to enhance one’s skills in the area of listening. It is especially relevant to all professionals working within the criminal justice / alcohol/ drugs / social service and mental health fields with a client group whose opinions / views are frequently over looked.
Are you familiar with the saying, "I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but the problem is that what you thought you heard me say is not really what I meant?" Eighty-percent of effective communication involves learning how to be a good listener. Simply hearing someone is not enough. You must have the skill and desire to understand what it is that he or she is trying to communicate. In our Effective Listening Skills workshop we will teach you a set of tools and techniques that will immediately enhance your ability to listen carefully and understand the meaning of the message.
All practitioners in health, social care, probation, police, drugs, alcohol and mental health settings, this workshop will be of interest to both newcomers and those more familiar with motivational interviewing. Additionally, any professional working with a disenfranchised group should attend this workshop.
