With every DAAT in England and Wales currently devising DIP teams within their locality or monitoring the impact of up and running DIP teams, the added burden of ensuring that commissioning of substance misuse services is carried out effectively, is something that they all experience. This one day workshop centres on this process.

Who Should Attend

Joint Commissioning Managers (substance misuse), Drug Action Team (DAT's), Commissioning Managers, Commissioners of organisations purchasing substance misuse services (primary care trusts, social services, the probation service, police and prison services) and other related services, DAT co-ordinators, substance misuse service providers, service users and carers, providers of related services (including allied and ancillary services), directors of public health, PCT chief executives and directors, chief executives of mental health trusts, police operational commanders of DAT areas, directors of social services, chief officers, probation areas, prison governors, general practitioners and drugs prevention advisory service (DPAS) teams.

  • Understanding good practice guidance
  • Issues related to the commissioning process and the range of activities to be undertaken
  • Joint commissioning and working with and across the various organisations involved in substance misuse treatment
  • Commissioning of comprehensive and evidence-based treatment systems at local levels
